Quick Hello

Just a quick hello today, I have been very busy house hunting today. I plan on getting a few projects done over the next few days as I won't have time to do them when I move, one of the projects on my to do list is painting the bedside cabinet in the loft room (you can just see it in the corner of this photo), it's currently green but I'm not sure whether to paint it white with a distressed finish or a grey weathered finish? 

I absolutely love the grey weathered look I have seen some lovely pictures on Pinterest which have given me some inspiration not sure what to do .......... decisions decisions!!!

Hopefully I will be back tomorrow with at least one completed project to tell you about!

Homesense and Ikea finds

I went to a different Ikea yesterday as I was desperately trying to track down the items I wasn't able to get on the trip on Monday. I have to say it was very productive as I managed to get the Arv dining set (yay!) as well as the 2 Bolster cushions I was after which I have temporarily put on the daybed in the loft room I will make some covers for them soon and when I do I will be sure to post the tutorial! I also got the Ursula throw which you can see draped over the bed it was only £15.99! Excuse the poor quality images!

I also got some cute little bits from Homesense yesterday, I got this glass cake dome for £3.99! I already had the cake stand from before and I also found this lovely silver heart trinket plate for £4.99. You can find some real gems in that store but if you see something you have to get it straight away as they only usually have a few of each thing in stock and they don't often get replenished (trust me I learnt the hard way!)

I also got one of these lovely cutlery boxes which I have seen in the past on notonthehighstreet.com for £24 I got mine for £6.99 so I was really pleased with myself!

I think I really need to stop buying as I already have quite a bit of stuff to pack when we move house, but I think the excitement of going somewhere new has taken over me and I am constantly looking for decor inspiration which is resulting in me going a bit weak every time I find something I like! I think I may have to stop looking for a while at least until we move!!! 

One website I found whilst inspiration hunting was http://www.maisonsdumonde.com/UK/en/ they have some gorgeous mirrors and furniture pieces at some quite reasonable prices, I particularly love the Dormer mirror I think it would look fabulous over a fireplace in a dining room (it's definitely on my wish list!)

Another trip to Ikea

Today my friend Tanya, Zayd and I went to Ikea, I specifically went to buy a few things such as more of the Pokal mugs this time I got some of the beige coloured ones (so now I have them in all the available colours!) They are so cute I plan on using them for hot drinks and sundaes.

Whilst in Ikea I wanted to get some bolster cushions for the daybed in my loft room but unfortunately they didn't have any left. I also really fancied buying the Arv Dinner Set that I saw the other day as I desperately need a new crockery set as all the other sets I have seem to have at least one plate missing, This set is so simple but has a french look about it. Unfortunately they didn't have any of these left either so it really wan't my day and it seems to me that I will have to make yet another trip to Ikea in the not too distant future.... thank goodness it's only a 10 minute trip away in the car!

I also went to Homebase and fit however manage to get some cute little bowls that go really well with the white coloured Pokal Mugs I got the other day from Ikea.

I plan on going to Homesense tomorrow to see what I can find no doubt there will be some little gems there, I will be back tomorrow and will let you know what I found.

Our House is up For Sale!

Apologies for not blogging recently but things have been a little bit crazy here as we have decided to put our house on the market! We have been here for 3 and a half years and we now feel the time is right to move south of the river. The last few days I have been busy trying to get the house ready for the photographer and estate agent, I have received the photos back today and have decided to share them with you on the page titled "Our House"

Zayd and I also went on a trip to ikea today and I have to say they had some really cute things some of which are these cute Pokal mugs (below) I bought 2 of the pink and 2 of the white, they also had them in beige... I am quite tempted to make another trip and get them also!

I have also been busy planning and organising Zayd's first birthday I know it's not until July but I thought   I might not have time to get everything I need if I leave it too late so I have started looking for inspiration and getting some supplies in to avoid the rush later!

I promise I will be adding a tutorial soon I just need to take some decent photos and then they will be added ; )

Ok.............. I think it's well overdue but I thought I will finally write a decent post! Forgive me but blog world is all a bit new to me and I have recently experienced some teething problems with my website and not to mention I had no internet connection for 2 and a half weeks! Ok excuses now out of the way I thought I would tell you a little bit about what my intentions are with this blog. I plan on using this blog to share my life with you all but in particular diy and home decor ideas as I absolutely love interior design and in particular shabby chic / French provincial style decor. I am now on maternity leave from work so I have been getting quite creative in my spare time (when I say spare time I actually mean when Zayd sleeps!) I only recently had a sewing machine bought for me by my very kind mother so I am experimenting with different ideas to create cushions and decorative items. I plan to sell some of these creations on my website www.farachadesigns.co.uk along with silver jewellery which was part of a business I had a few years ago. Ok that's enough for today I will be back tomorrow with the paper pom pom tutorial!
